KFXT-TV is the Fox affiliate that serves the Tulsa, OK area. It broadcasts on channel 20. The station is owned by Graham Media Group which is part of a duopoly with CBS affiliate KTSA (channel 4).
History[]
KFXT was launched on July 1, 1981 as KXTL. KXTL was owned by the original Capital Cities Communications. Launched as an independent, KXTL ran an independent schedule broadcasting children's television during the day, movies during the night, and (Then) Big 8 Conference games on the weekends (since Tulsa is in the middle between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Oklahoma State Cowboys). In 1985, Capital Cities bought ABC, and everyone thought that KXTL would take the ABC affiliation away from KBAP. Instead Capital Cities sold KXTL to Journal Media Group, and about a year later, KXTL became an affiliate of FOX. KXTL then changed their call letters to KFXT. About 4 years later, KFXT launched their newscast, and quickly became the no. 1 primetime newscast in Tulsa. On October 23, 2015 BeloOne announced that it will purchase KFXT from Journal Media Group. On November 5, it was purchased by BeloOne. On April 20, 2017, KFXT was sold to Graham Media Group.
