It is one of nine stations in this market (others are Channel 3 RKO, Channel 4 PBS, Channel 5 CW, Channel 6 MyNetworkTV, Channel 7 CBS, Channel 8 FOX, Channel 9 PBS, Channel 10 ABC, and Channel 11 ITV). The Cicely, AK television market is a small and behind market. It broadcasts on channel 2 and is owned by NBCUniversal.

The stations (including KCIC) still relies on tape to film segments and has yet to receive camaras to film digitally. The market has no HD broadcasting or a digital signal until Fox affiliate KPZF converted to HD and Digital broadcasting in 2015. KCIC is an NBC station though it cherry-picks FOX programming which KPZF (Cicely's FOX affiliate) preempts at a certain event to make room for sporting events or a breaking news story.
