KITN-DT is an ITV Network affiliate serving the central Washington state coast, North Coast (via KONP-TV), and the South Coast (via KPEN-TV).

History

KITN-DT signed on the air for the first time as KITG-LP. The call sign stood for Independent Television Group, the station's former owner. It was the first over-the-air TV station in the Vancouver area. Previously for people in the Vancouver area to get TV, they needed cable service or a very good analog antenna since most Seattle stations cannot reach the Washington Coast. Portland stations were much easier to get however.

On January 1st, 2013, ITV announced that would become digital only, turn full power, and the main translators of the station into satellites. It happened on June 1st, 2013.

In June 1st, 2013, the FCC approved to expand KITN's transmitting power, way out of what the FCC allows for Class-A television stations. ITV changed the call sign of KITN-CD to KITN-DT. In addition, ITV converted the north and south coast translators into satellites of KITN. It is the second station in the Washington Coast to turn to full power and convert its translators into satellites, after Washington Coast PBS. It is the first ITV O&O to become digital only.

On July 1st, 2013, ITV announced that all remaining ITV O&Os would have their analog signals shutdown by December 31st, 2013 as a cost-cutting measure.
