History

KTO signed on the air back on March 2nd, 1953 and signed on as an NBC affiliate. KTO remained with NBC for ovr 40 years up until September 1996 when KTO gave up the NBC affiliation to (assuming either KTMY, Channel 29 or KCVE, Channel 46). It remained with The WB for merely a year until 1997 when KTO swapped affiliates yet again, this time swapping with either Channel 29 or Channel 46 to be with UPN, and it two lasted only a year. KTO finally went back to the original NBC affiliation in September 1998 and has since remained with NBC. In 2004, the station began carrying NBC Weather Plus on digital subchannel 11.2, the affiliation lasted until 2008 when it shut down. Later in 2004, the station began adding The Tube Music Network on digital subchannel 11.3, that network lasted until 2007 when it went defunct and was replaced with GSN. In 2011, the station then added Bounce TV to 11.2. GSN later moved to digital subchannel 11.4 when RainbowDash72's new version of NBC Weather Plus launched on January 1, 2016. KTO was one of the affiliates not to be affected by the 2014 fictional TV realignment. It was sold to Meredith Corperation on Deceber 29, 2016.
