Station History[]

KWGM signed on the air back on November 14, 1982 and signed on as an independent. It remained an independent for 13 years until January 1995 when the newly formed UPN network signed on. KWGM then switched affiliations from Independent to UPN and remained as a UPN affiliate until 2006, when CBS and Warner Bros. and Fox created The CW and MyNetworkTV, resulting in UPN being purchased by Viacom and The WB being purchased by Turner Broadcasting and TimeWarner. KWGM became the charter CW affiliate for Arlen and has been for nearly 10 years. On January 25, 2016 it was sold to Kenny Broadcasting. On Sept. 6, 2017, the station was sold to Tribune Broadcasting.
