Station History

KXIX signed on April 10, 1983 as KOCI. It originally ran mostly Christian programming along with segments of HSN Spree. KOCI kept the original call sign for only 2 years before changing it it to KXIX (Roman Numeral for 19) in 1985. Also in 1985, KXIX premiered a newscast originally titled Independent 19 News. This name has changed around tremendously over the years but more recently named the newscast was named FOX 19 Eyewitness News. KXIX remained as an independent for merely 3 years until 1986 when the newly formed FOX network signed on. KXIX then switched affiliations to FOX from independent and has remained a FOX affiliate ever since. In 2008, KXIX launched a subchannel for their Hispanic audience: Univision.
