Newslens (formely known as Tamaraw Newslens from 1988 to 1991, CNP Primetime News from 1991 to 1996 and Bombo Radyo/CNP/Star FM Newslens from 1996 to 2009) is a Filipino evening news bulletin on CNP. It is produced by CNP News, Information and Rescue.

History[]

It all started in 1986 after the EDSA Revolution as CNP depended on the newly-founded Malaya Newspaper and the Manila Shimbun for sources. In 1988, after two years of cooperation with the two newspapers, CNP would be able to launch its own newscast, "Tamaraw Newslens".

In 1995, CNP started regional news programs with unique names.

  • Laoag/Vigan/Abra: Reporting Ilocos
  • Tuguegarao/Cauayan: Look North (Cagayan Valley)
  • Baguio/Tabuk: Look North (Cordillera)
  • Dagupan: Look North (Pangasinan)
  • Angeles/Iba/Olongapo/Cabanatuan: Central Luzon Today
  • Metro Manila: Newsroom NCR
  • Batangas/Lucena: Southern Tagalog Today
  • Calapan/San Jose: Inside Mindoro
  • Puerto Princesa: Points West (Palawan)
  • Naga/Legazpi: Close Up Bicolandia
  • Iloilo: Madya-as Today
  • Bacolod: Negros Today
  • Cebu: Sugbo Today
  • Tacloban: Look East
  • Zamboanga/Dipolog/Pagadian: Zamboanga Hoy
  • Cagayan De Oro/Iligan: Newsroom Cagayan
  • Davao: Gulfshore Tonight
  • General Santos/Kidapawan/Koronadal: Soccsksargen Tonight
  • Butuan/Surigao/Tandag: Caraga Tonight
  • Cotabato: News CenMin
  • Jolo/Tawi-Tawi: Spotlight Sulu

In 2013, as part of a new era in broadcast news history, and as CNP's answer to the regional expansion of ABS-CBN's TV Patrol, GMA's 24 Oras (although the rebranding would take place the next year) and TV5's Aksyon, all regional newscasts produced by CNP will be known under the unified "Newslens" name umbrella.
