It was founded in August 2001 and began broadcasts on January 6, 2003. Some of Viacom's MTV2 stations became The Q affiliates when The Q launched.
In 2010, It launches new branding, all The Q affiliates station rebranded QXX (channel number, Ex: WNYSM rebranded as Q69)
The network provides 17 hours of primetime programming to its affiliated stations, 8-11pm Monday to Friday (all times ET/PT) and 7-11pm from Saturday to Sunday. Programming is also provided between 3-7pm Sundays (under a repeat block), 6-11am weekday mornings (under a music video block), 1-5pm weekday afternoons, 2-7pm Saturday afternoons (under a music video/action sports block), 11pm-5am late nights (under an edited block of daytime talk and court shows along with original late-night programming), 10-11:30am Sunday mornings, a five-hour Saturday morning block called "The Q's Saturday Morning", and a three-hour Sunday morning block called "The Q's Sunday Morning".
