WLCW, virtual channel 22, is a CW-affiliated television station serving Liberty City, Liberty State, that is licensed to Broker. The station is owned by Dorado Media as part of a duopoly with DBC affiliate WLBD (channel 9).

History

The station was launched on May 1, 1965, under the call sign WXXA, its original transmitter was located outside Bohan. It was originally an ABN charter affiliate and operated by the Sabana American Broadcast Holdings (now known as Champion Digital Broadcasting, which would then partner with the ABN Domestic Television Corporation). While maintaining the ABN affiliation, adopt a general entertainment programming format as "Channel 22, ABN".

In 1985, the SABH launched a new station on channel 5 under the call sign WLIX, which then the company would move the ABN affiliation to the newly formed station.

Switch to independence

The station lost the ABN affiliation when the network ceased operations on March 18, 1985; at that point, WXXA became an independent station. Channel 22 then spent much of the next two decades offering a variety of general entertainment programs including movies, sports, off-network reruns and children's programs.

End of independent era and switch to The CW

In 2014, RainbowDash72 announced the purchase of WLCT. WLCT's relationship with The CW formerly ended on December 16, 2014, with American Dad! being the final program to air on the station.

In 2017, the station changed its call sign to WLCW, in order to better reflect the current CW affiliation. Following the new call sign, the station was acquired by Dorado Media, which then created a duopoly in the market with DBC affiliate WGCV.
