Station History

WREN signed on the air back on October 3rd, 1973 and signed on as an Independent. WREN remained as an Independent for nearly 20 years from October 1973 to May 1993 when WREN switched affiliations from Independent to the newly formed PTEN network. WREN remained as an affiliate of PTEN for nearly a mere 2 years from May 1993 to January 1995 when the newly formed UPN as well as the newly formed WB networks signed on. WREN picked up UPN while WOBB picked up The WB. WREN remained as an affiliate of UPN for 11 years from January 1995 to September 2006 when UPN as well as The WB folded and ceased to exist in order for 2 newly formed networks to sign on: The CW and MyNetworkTV. WREN picked up MyNetworkTV while not surprisingly, WOBB picked up The CW. WREN has since remained an affiliate of MyNetworkTV and was not affected by the 2014 fictional tv station realignment.
