WWRO is the RKO Network affiliate that serves the Lynchburg, VA area. It broadcasts on channel 12. When WGUN started back up as a licensed station in 1980, it took the RKO affiliation away from WWRO, thus making WWRO an Independent station. At 12:00:01 a.m. ET on September 27, 1996, an affiiliation swap in Lynchburg happened, reaffiliating WWRO with RKO Network and making WGUN an Independent station once again.
